AnimA is….

a ritual theater performance collaborative. Our intention is to inspire individual and collective transformation through creative storytelling, and to give expression to the inner world of the feminine spirit.

The collaborative was founded by Lisa Citore in 2015 as Anima: Theater of the Feminine Underground. In 2025, the collaborative expanded to include workshops, ritual performances at new venues, and more artist involvement than ever before.

Since its inception, we have produced 12 sold out shows at Center Stage Theater in Santa Barbara, CA.

“I started Anima to keep the fire of my own creative process going. Creativity has always been a primary vehicle for me to do my healing work. It has helped me to turn wounds into wisdom. I wanted to bring this powerful tool to women in our community” Says Lisa.

Each show creates a resonant field of ‘Anima’—the feminine aspect of the soul—not only for the participants, but the whole audience. In this way, each show is a ritual for the collective, and each woman’s performance is her own ritual space for healing.
