WHAT IS ANIMA?

Anima : “the feminine aspect of the soul”

Anima is a women-centric ritual theater performance collaborative. Our intention is to inspire individual and collective transformation through creative expression, and to amplify the voice of the feminine spirit in all beings.

The collaborative was founded by Lisa Citore in 2015, and since then, Anima has been transporting artists and audiences alike with pieces that are shared as individual rituals. In 2025, the collaborative expanded to include labs, ritual performances at new venues, commissioned pieces, and more artist involvement than ever before.

“I started Anima to keep the fire of my own creative process going. Creativity has always been a primary vehicle for me to do my healing work. It has helped me to turn wounds into wisdom. I wanted to bring this powerful tool to women in our community” Says Lisa.

Each show is a ritual for the collective, and each woman’s performance is her own ritual space for healing.
